Electric vehicles require the correct towing method to help protect the drive system, battery, suspension, and other components.
First Response Towing uses a rollback flatbed as the primary method for transporting electric and hybrid vehicles. This allows the vehicle to be carried with all four wheels off the ground.
Every EV is checked before loading so the safest transport method can be used based on:
ELECTRIC VEHICLES WE TRANSPORT
We provide flatbed towing for many types of electric and hybrid vehicles, including:
Examples may include Tesla, Ford, Chevrolet, Rivian, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and other electric or hybrid models.
WHY EVS NEED CAREFUL HANDLING
An electric vehicle should not be handled like an ordinary gas-powered vehicle without checking the proper towing procedure.
Some EVs can be damaged if their drive wheels are allowed to roll while being transported. Others may have locked wheels, limited ground clearance, or electronic systems that prevent normal loading.
Before moving the vehicle, I check the situation and use the equipment needed to load it safely.
No guessing. No rushing. No shortcuts.
When possible, the vehicle is loaded onto the rollback and transported with all four wheels off the ground.
Depending on the condition of the EV, loading may require:
Controlled winching
Wheel skates
Low-clearance loading methods
Careful positioning
Soft straps when appropriate
Manufacturer-approved tow points
The vehicle is secured properly before transport begins.
DEAD OR DISCHARGED EV BATTERY
An EV with a dead high-voltage battery may not shift into neutral or release the parking brake normally.
The small 12-volt battery can also fail, preventing the doors, controls, or vehicle systems from operating.
Please provide the year, make, and model when calling so I can prepare for the vehicle before arriving.
ACCIDENT-DAMAGED ELECTRIC VEHICLES
Electric vehicles involved in an accident may require extra care because of possible battery or electrical-system damage.
Please tell me if the vehicle has:
Visible battery damage
Smoke, heat, or unusual odors
Severe impact damage
Water or flood exposure
Warning messages on the dash
Leaking fluids
Damaged wheels or suspension
A vehicle showing signs of battery fire, smoke, or extreme heat should be handled by emergency responders before towing.
When you call First Response Towing, you speak directly with me, Shawn, the owner and driver.
There is no call center, no dispatch shuffle, and no wondering who will arrive.
I will ask for:
Vehicle year, make, and model
Pickup location
Destination
Vehicle condition
Whether the wheels roll
Whether the vehicle can shift into neutral
Any warning messages or accident damage
This information helps me arrive prepared.
